Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the advantages of family football scholarship and community service. The first time Selmon was raised by Lucious Selmon and Jessie on their Eufala farm as the youngest of nine children. It was also the only one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In his three years as a starter Oklahoma recorded a record of 32-1-1 and secured two national championships. Selmon received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a master's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer every week while in college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers over nine years and was an all-pro. Also, he began a career in the field of business. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and also the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the top 10 notable young people in America from the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in his height and weighed 256 lbs at the time he played in college. He captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. It was the College Football Hall of Fame honored him in the year 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame In 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
